Our Virtues
At St Patrick’s our chosen virtues are:
- Faith and Hope
- Hope
- Temperance
- Justice
- Courage
- Solidarity
Each half term the new virtue is introduced to the children through scripture and ways of living the virtue out are also discussed. The scripture and ways to live out the virtue are displayed around school and reinforced daily. Teachers recognise and reward children for living out the virtues throughout the school day.
Faith
“Jesus paid no attention to what they said, but told him, “Do not be afraid, only believe.” (Mark 5:36)
At St Patrick’s we show faith when we:
- pray with others
- participate in Mass and Celebration of the Word
- actively plan prayer and liturgy
- work on mission
- actively participate in RE
- be like Jesus (kind, thoughtful, thinking of others, charitable), forgive, say sorry, talk to God, trust God.
Love
“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.”(John 15:9)
At St Patrick’s we show love when we:
- have concern for others
- perform unselfish acts
- let others play
- use manners
- play with others
- use kind words,
- help
- listen
- be a good friend.
Hope
“Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31
At St Patrick’s we show hope when we:
- are positive
- believe that God had a plan for me
- don’t give up when things are hard
- have hopes and dreams for the future
- try my best in all that I do
- support others to be the best they can be
Temperance
“God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control” 2 Timothy 1:7
At St Patrick’s we show temperance when we:
- have patience
- show control of my feelings and actions
- are calm
- show humility and forgiveness
- live simply
Justice
“The Lord does what is right and he loves justice. Honest people will see his face.” Psalm 11:7
At St Patrick’s we show justice when we:
- are honest
- listen to other people’s opinion
- are trustworthy
- stand up when I see things that are unfair
- are kind
- treat everyone equally
Courage
“Be strong and brave. Don’t be frightened. The Lord your God will go with you. He will not leave you or forget you.” Deuteronomy 31:6
At St Patrick’s we show courage when we:
- are not afraid to try new things
- persevere with learning new things
- show resilience when things go wrong
- contribute to my class and school
- take risk
Solidarity
“In Christ, there is no difference … You are all the same in Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3:28
At St Patrick’s we show solidarity when we:
- work as a team
- Everyone is included
- are good citizens
- think about people in my local, and wider community
- share my ideas and talents
- respect others
