A typical week in Year 1

  • English, Phonics and Maths lessons each day
  • Daily reading
  • Reading Practice Sessions – up to three times per week
  • RE lessons – Monday & Friday
  • Topic (History or Geography) –  Wednesday
  • Art or D&T  – Tuesday
  • PE  – Wednesday – come to school in PE kits
  • Science – Tuesday
  •  ICT/Computing – Friday
  • Music – Thursday

Homework

  • Reading – daily reading is one of the best ways to support your child
  • Phonics and key word spelling/handwriting tasks
  • Maths follow-up – this keeps you up to date with the weekly Maths learning
  • Occasional homework tasks in Topic and RE

​Homework is a vital way to support your child’s learning, so please support your child with this regularly.
